Inspiration

So we’ve started doing this little thing called Formspring . It’s an online Q & A of sorts. One of the questions we got the other day was this:

“what inspires you? where do you find inspiration after you’ve hit the proverbial wall?”

So that is where this post comes into play. There are a lot of times…when I just feel like I’m not progressing I’m not moving forward or growing…though I really try to constantly learn and look at things differently…sometimes I just feel stale. So recently I’ve made it a point when I’m out driving to just take photos with my phone…don’t worry about pulling out the DSLR..but just use what is at my quick disposal. Chase Jarvis really talks about this alot…you can check out his blog here. So I try to challenge myself with photography that’s not in the niche of things we shoot…see for the most part we shoot people…and maybe an occasional dog or two…but we aren’t landscape photographers, or architect photographers, not that we don’t like it..just that it’s not something we feel the pull to do, nor do we think we are accomplished in that area and instead have chosen to invest our time into Weddings & Portraits. So I guess that’s enough talking I’ll drop some of the images on ya…that kind of have been inspiring me to try new things!  Here my attempt at using phone-photos for inspiration!

So you might be thinking how do these photos inspire me? Well here’s the thing..they make me see something in the everyday things around me. It gives me new ideas for locations….I’m dying to shoot at that barn now…also..I’d love to do a foggy morning couple session…this is just a few things that happened when I started just shooting from the hip (or rather from the car or on top of a building )…while I think having good functioning equipment is nice…sometimes it is great to be reminded that I need to focus more on my surroundings the moment that’s going on and I don’t always need a new piece of equipment to help inspire me!
